The Health Protection Branch has major responsibilities to protect the health and wellbeing of Victorians through disease protection, prevention and control measures, and the provision of timely and effective responses to acute and emerging risks to public health.
The environmental health functions of the Branch aim to identify and prevent ill health arising from environmental factors such as land contamination, radiation, air quality, water quality, Legionella and chemicals in the environment.
